| Ambic Moves to New Premises
Ambic has just moved to bigger and better facilities just around the corner from its old premises in Witney, Oxfordshire. The new building houses all of the production and administrative facilities under one roof and has enabled the operation to be laid out to optimise workflow and efficiency.
Given the complexity of the relocation operation, which was managed by Ambic’s Product Development Manager, Richard Hiley, the move was phased over three week period, starting with the relocation of the mould shop operation, which required the use of heavy lifting equipment. This was followed by the relocation of the assembly operation, which necessitated the moving of the various assembly cells used to assemble the various products in the Ambic range. Quality control and testing facilities were moved at the same time. Finally, the administrative, IT and R&D functions were relocated in the third week. The whole operation was completed on time by the end of March, but not without some slight disruption to the sending out of orders as a result of the relocation of the assembly operation taking slightly longer to complete than anticipated.
The company is already beginning to see the benefits of its new facilities and the improved working environment is much appreciated by the staff who are looking forward to leveraging their future performance by exploiting the full benefits of the new facilities.
A new start of the art injection moulding machine will be installed in June to complete the upgrade programme.
